First steps

Well, in seven days my body will be surgically changed forever, I am having gastric plication surgery on 10 October 2014.

Why, where and how...that I can answer.....

I am a 44 year old female, 5ft 1" and (before the pre op diet) 198lbs.  I am a little big girl, and I am just tired of thinking of myself in that way.

I went through short periods in my life ,when I was younger , where I was skinny and pretty confident....not to mention great looking....but for the most part I have always struggled with my weight and my self image.

I want to strut with the self confidence that I know I have stuffed in this huge body....I want to roll the dice and take a chance on myself for once.  I want to invest in myself, be selfish for once, take care of my needs and hopes and dreams. So I called the www.obesitycontrolcenter.com in Tijuana, Mexico, did lots of research on surgery types, booked my appointment for surgery and my plane tickets from Ontario Canada.

Ready to rock and roll!

So, what happens after you book the surgery....you start your pre op diet.  They suggest using http://www.vitaleph.com, to order your pre op package.  It consists of protein shakes and supplements.  The diet is three weeks in duration, with the first week being three shakes a day, green leafy veggies and one 300 calorie meal (I chose frozen weight watchers entrĂ©es).  The following two weeks consists of green leafy veggies, no calorie dressing (walden farms dressings are great, and you can order them online at http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com ) and three shakes a day. You are allowed all the broth you wish, coffee, tea and non carbonated drinks.  I have lost 12 lbs in two weeks, and hopefully a little more before surgery day.

You need the pre op diet to shrink your liver so they can get in there and do what they need to do....I thought it would be too strict to follow successfully, but it is doable.....oh yes, I also quit smoking at the same time and I have not had a meltdown or killed anyone, pretty amazing if I do say so.  I have been either walking or going to Curves fitness everyday of the week and I feel great....great and ready!

So, that's where I am at, six days till takeoff, seven till surgery....I am full of nervous excitement.  I will do my best to update as often as I can, blogging the process, feelings, food, and success/failure.

Cheers!
